Cheese and Wine Pairing Box

We’ve finally finished some thorough testing and paired our hugely popular canned wines with some of our cheeses. This was a lot of fun and we’ve uncovered some absolutely wonderful pairings, which we’re delighted to share with you.

St Laurent 2018, a deliciously fruity Austrian red is paired with Affineur Walo’s Gruyere AOC (6m). We love this pairing and feel the lighter 6 month matured Gruyere compliments the plum and mulberry fruit flavours in the wine.

Grenache Rosé 2020, a fruity rosé, surprised us in that it pairs really well with Westcombe Cheddar. The strawberry and butterscotch which are prominent in the wine work really well with hazelnut and caramel flavours of the Westcombe Cheddar.

Old Vine Garnacha 2019, a delicious Spanish red works really well with classic Manchego. Cherry and particularly vanilla notes in the wine really partner with the light sweetness from the sheep’s milk and the hard texture of the cheese.

Viognier 2019, with its prominent peach and apple flavours has been paired with Cashel Blue. This is another pairing that surprised us as we usually prefer a Viognier with a goats cheese but the sweetness from the apple and peach flavours work really well with the salty blue, Cashel.

Gruner 2020, an Austrian white wine is deliciously refreshing and light and for that reason we’ve paired it with Carboncino, a light mixed milk cheese from Piedmont. The light and creamy flavours of the cheese work in perfect harmony with the green apple flavours in the Gruner.
