We Now Stock Gin and Rum

With things being a little uncertain over the past year, we’ve explored some new options for products to have in the shop and a really exciting part of that is finding some unusual gins and rums.

We like finding things that are a little bit different and we didn’t want to change that when considering gin and rum, so we searched far and wide and found some gin that couldn’t be further away and still be British, but also some rum from closer to home.

We started stocking some Shetland Reel Scottish Gin (Fras is Scottish and used his contacts) and we love each of them. Firstly we have 3 types of gin by the Saxa Vord Distillery, the most northerly distillery in the UK, housed in Unst, in the Shetland Isles. We also loved Nerabus Islay Gin, from the Scottish Island in the Inner Hebrides and lastly a Birch & Elderflower Spirit by Highland Boundary, who are based in Perthshire. They all use local botanicals to enhance their drinks and we think each one is unique, as well as delicious.

While we were looking at gins, we also discovered botanical rums, something we knew very little about. This is where various botanicals are used to compliment the flavours of the rum and is a little different to spiced rums, where the flavour of the rum is altered. Two of our favourites are by Market Row Botanical Rum, based in Brixton and Scratch British Rum, distilled in Hertfordshire. These rums are best enjoyed straight with ice, or with tonics like you would with gin. They are also great in cocktails.
